The author's name on the cover assured me that this Bible study would be nourishing and challenging. Stacy McDonald always is. The title assured me that I was not alone in my beliefs about godly femininity and womanhood. Thank you, Lord.

Page-after-page of Raising Maidens of Virtue: A Study of Feminine Loveliness for Mothers and Daughters, a beautifully fashioned hardcover from Books on the Path, offers the motivation and guidance it will take to combat our "humanistic culture at war with God" in order to reinforce purity and graciousness in our precious daughters. Conservative and traditional, McDonald hopes to enlist your family in this battle. Scripture, prayer, accountability, discipleship - these are some of the "weapons" the family can use when pursuing godly maidenhood.

The 19 chapters of the sturdy, sewn-together volume are easy to read, but the "rubber meets the road" in the many convicting parts. Do we really want to represent Christ? If we want our daughters to represent Him, we mothers will have to be models. That could mean change - for us! Then, the 227 pages are not so easy to read. Purity, femininity, godly wholesomeness - this is McDonald's agenda. Her parable-like stories, hypothetical situations, real-life testimonies, and tongue-in-cheek dry wit are mixed with a heart to reclaim girls under attack by our lost culture. You have likely heard the phrase "dumbing down;" what that is in the vernacular of modern academia, "moraling down" might be the new word for what today's culture has done for winsome young womanhood. McDonald offers you a solution.

Bombarded by the anti-God message of television, music, movies, advertising, magazines - and even having to face issues of modesty and femininity within the Body of Christ - you may think you're a stranger in a strange land. How do you think your daughter feels? McDonald wants you to know that your daughter needs you more than ever now. This Bible study could blossom into wonderful mother/daughter memories as you learn together, take tea, serve luncheon, or even scrapbook together. Set aside special time; turn off the phone; curl up together. The book is excellent for women of any age, but especially meant for mothers to study with their 12-to-18-year-old daughters. I hope McDonald and her husband, James, are penning a similar book for our "knights" to go along with this treasure for maidens.
